Is it really worth power shifting with all the things that could go wrong? Would you recommend i learned in my friends car?
Only do it if you are in a close race. I've broke plenty shift forks, infact the T5 (and I know he doesnt have a T5) was horrible about it. Anyway, if you shift hard enough, the forks will break(a short throw with stops should help this) Not to mention the possibility of f*n up you synchs. Deffinately learn in someone elses car.

My dad did it in my car the one time I let him drive us home, lol. It was a heck of alot of fun, but he missed 3rd. His daily driver is a supercharged mini cooper, and his weekend fast car is the Shelby Cobra we built, and both are much different shifters than Mustang. He missed 3rd, and went to 1st while powershifting....OMFG, it was sooo frikken scary, I thought my syncros just blew up. I actually thought my driveline blew up. Frikken scraped to a stop and he sat back and said "woops, I missed 3rd. Get a short shifter." LOL. So I ordered one this morning. Can't wait till it arrives!!!
wow... thats kinda dick lol

when i let my dad drive my car the only thing he said was... i like how it sounds.

If you feel a difference when you "powershift" then you must granny shift normal. I always use the clutch and let off the gas. I guess its all in how fast you shift. Ive raced a couple of people that thought I was in an built automatic. I shift fast enough to where powershifting doesnt benefit me in any way.
If you wanna power shift go right ahead, but I recommend you get a short throw shifter with shift stops. Over extending your throws will wreak havoc on your tranny's internals, it could even jam in gear to the point where with both hands and all your might wont release it.

1) I gotta make this my new quote......
2) Shifting is an art form. I have seen guys "granny" shift smoothe as buttah..... and I have seen guys power shifting what looked like a bucking bronco.
