Default Replacing gauge cluster

If I replace my gauge cluster with another stock gauge cluster, will my miles transfer over to it?

I don't want to get a cluster with 50,000 miles on it when my car only has 13,000. Also, if I get a gauge cluster with more or less than a 150 mph top speed, will it be calibrated to work with that speed or would I have to get something re-programmed? If I am replacing my cluster, I may just replace it with a cobra or something.

I think you said that a lil backwards, but yea miles are not stored in the guages. That would make it too easy for ppl to commit mileage fraud if they were.

Ok good. I just didn't want to lose resale value. My car is a 2000, but it was owned by old people with an RV so it only has 13k on it. I didn't want to suddenly have 50k for no reason.

Thansk for the help

What about if the speedo top speed is different? Some Cobra and Saleen speedos are a lot higher than the 150 of mine. Will the speedo be correct if I get a saleen or cobra?

I dont think you can put a cobra cluster in a GT, and if you have a 2000 I do believe you can only us guages from a 99 or 2000, they changed them in 01.

Do you know what changed in the gauge clusters? They look the same so I was just curious.

The pats system is stored in three places: the ignition key, the computer, and in a chip that is in the cluster with the odometer. As long as you change the odometer board then everything will be fine.
