Although I agree the NPI motors suck at life, everyone complains that a 281 CI motor doesn't make big power n/a....

its a 281. Even with better flowing heads, you simply arn't going to see LS1 like results from this setup.

its a low compression, low displacement V8... its begging to be supercharged. Look at this this way, buy one for around 8-10K (PI GT) and spend 4k on a blower kit... and your going to outrun anything else (stock) thats under what, 50 grand? more?

All they need is a PI swap and they're right there with the 99-04's. I don't see the big deal.
True, I just didnt expect the parts and install for that swap to cost around $2k!
thats what it cost to upgrade the H/C/I on just about any car if not more!
Yea but in other cars a H/C/I swap will net you more than 50 hp[&:]...oh that's at the crank not the wheels.
drop a 4 valve motor in there and do a PI swap and go to town. Just look at my sig.
Now why would you replace the 4V heads with ****ty 2V PI heads? I'm guessing that was a typo because their is no such thing as a PI upgrade for 4V heads
You need to make a trip to the MPH website and see how much horsepower those guys are getting out of those 2v heads last time I looked it was well over 900 hp on ported stock 2v heads if there is a will there is a way.

What was Ford thinking from 96-04 when they made these ****ty 2 valve heads. That's the real question
+1
F Body owners always have one up on me with the stock HP numbers. I just say, hey it makes good power for the size of the motor. It isn't a 346 making 315 but it is a 281 making 45 less. Plus I have room in my engine bay, I'm not sitting on the ground, I can go FI with no problems (rod nock lol), and the camaros aren't all that attractive anyway. A 6 spd WS6 TA with T tops in sun set orange metallic was my first choice but insurence was too high so I went with my old friend the Mustang GT. I don't regret it. I will have the last laugh when I get a built bottom end and a Kenne with my full exhaust and tune.

i have said it before, but I still don't see why everyone has to bitch about the 2v 4.6L. It is capable with nothing more than ehxaust/FI of making more power as a DD with decent MPG than most rodders would have ever dreamed of doing on a DD not even 15 years ago.

400 WHP isn't enough for a DD that started out with 260 WHP? I think you guys have a misconception that your going to DD around a car with 600 WHP and a gigantic cam.. its just not feasable, no matter what the platform you start with.

I know we arent discussing cobras but since u said 94-98 the 4.6 cobras are really some of the better cars from the 90's if you ask me, and who ever said there ugly, its my favorite body style of the mustang, especially the cobra....
+100 you cant beat the look of the early sns and the cobras were some of the best ever produced... as for the npi they are ****ty from the factory but they have the same potential all other stangs have...wait 1 more month, come to omaha and then run your lil mouths...

i personally luv the look of the 94-98 sn-95s...they are a great easy platform to start workin on...you have the same capabilities as the 99-04...and dont think the 99-04 is such a great step up....the best thing you can do is start lookin at some type of FI. N/A these motors are decent but they dont make the power that most people want, so next best thing is FI. you could easily have a blower (used of course) for under 3000 and thats the full kit, and be beating most cars on the road. dont complain about what you got, see it as potential, THE UNDERDOG.....i luv suprising people, mainlythe ls1 crowd with my car....its unexpected for them and enjoyment for me.
