looking for help figuring out a problem with my 2000 GT. I was out testing the car out before I was was going to race a hatch. The car started to run a little rough so I headed home to check it out. Once I got home I noticed blue smoke coming form the passenger side tail pipe and a tapping sound coming from the engine. I looked high and low for the tapping sound and was only able to say that it was coming from the passenger side valve cover and just as loud when I use a home listening tool at the passenger side exhaust pipe next to exhaust manifold. I pulled the number 5 plug and it had oil on it. I think it was leaking from the valve seal because when I ran a thicker oil it got better.Some people say its a bad tappet or valve. Any suggestion.

dunno, sounds like a rocker arm, or stud. But i dont know too much bout the 4.6 mod motor so dont listen to me.

If you're inclinded, which you sort of seem to be, since you diagnosed which plug is burning the leaking oil, I'd rip off the passenger side valve cover, take a look. Maybe a bent valve, broken valve spring, I don't know much more than the avg joe when it comes to engines, so hopefully someone that is, will chime in.

Do a compression test on that cylinder?

sound like you have a bad valve seal or valve guide!!!
