Default TPS Sensor positioning

i though it was my check engine light for my cats but it was the TPS sensor circuit low (predator told me) can this affect the performance? do i have to do like my 94 and check the positioning with a volt meter and get it at .99 or close to it?

Running at idle it should read about .5V and KOEO it should read about 4.5V at WOT. And yes, it will mess up the way your car runs. If it's bad, I have a stock TPS off of my '96 that I took off when I put on my throttle body. Let me know if you need it.
