K&N says you gain 10 hp on a stock motor. I say this is bull****. I doubt you get 5 hp. I installed one and didn't feel a difference, It felt like i lost power actually.

For the OG poster... removing the silencer is in effect a cheap CAI... it will not harm your motor any, and will not add a huge difference in performance.... but then nothing aside from a blower or turbo will add a huge difference in performance in these cars... everything other than a power adder is just a little something to give you a bit more of an edge over stock!

I noticed with the silencer removed I have a little more top end pull, however I seem to have a very slight mid-range sag when the weather is hot outside and I've driven the car on a long trip.
I put back the silencer to test and sure enough the sag is gone.
Not sure what to make of it.

a CAI will net you 1 hp, someone on yellow mustang registry dynoed a MAC CAI and MAC cat back and got a total of 4 horses
removing the silencer wont do anything more then a CAI, which is nothing, however, it can cause some terbulance in the MAF and cause gas milage to go down, happend to me

+1. 3 hp is more like it. You couldnt get 9 hp unless you did like heads+cam+full exhaust and then upgrade the air filter!
