Noise from engine bay in cold weather
Yesterday morning it was about 20 degrees when I went to do some christmas shopping. I pull out of the driveway and put it in 1st. As I accelerate through first I hear a loud humming sound from the engine bay. It goes away when I engage the clutch and returns when I put it in second gear. This goes on for about 2 or 3 minutes then it quit. I am still wondering what caused that and if I need to get it checked out, any help?
edit - as it was going on I kept engaging the clutch and the sound would go away then return when I disengaged the clutch. Something in the tranny for sure but what is it?

At that temperature, I would let it warm for at least 5 minutes before driving it. If it is an automatic, put it in drive and put your foot on the brake to allow the tranny fluid to circulate for a few minutes before you drive it.
