Default RE: CHECK FUEL CAP dash code

Can be caused by not closing the fuel cap all the way. IF that is the cause, according to ford: code will clear if you run the tank doen to less than 1/4, fill up, attach cap properly, run tank down to 1/2.

....or disconecting the battery works too.

In my case, its not so simple. It can also be caused be a fuel system vaccuum leak.I've had my tank pressure tested, no leak detected, but my light comes back on at about 3/4 tank following a reset (battery disconnect).

My Ford dealer says it has nothing to do with power, safety, or reliability. Just make sure to reset the light befor going for a smog check.
