there is no point to put more then 255/45/17 and they do make DR's in that size. Also you can fit 275/45 on also but since the wheel is only 17/8 the tire will bend and the center of the tire won't be gripping as well. People usually put 245/45/17 DR's and the sixty foot is much better. Also stock GT doesn't have that much power to put huge 315/40's on you'll be fine with a regular size

A 275 will not cup on the stock rims, they are at the limit but fine with that rim size. The difference is not massive, but my car hooked better with the 275s than the 245s, your talking about a 1.5 inch increase in tire on the ground.

Your tire sizes are wrong, if your going with a 275 you want a 275/40/R17 on the stock rim, a 45 sidewall on a 275 tire will result in increased diameter and effectivly less gearing.
A 275 will not cup on the stock rims, they are at the limit but fine with that rim size. The difference is not massive, but my car hooked better with the 275s than the 245s, your talking about a 1.5 inch increase in tire on the ground.
