Heli-Coil : HEAD FCUKED UPDATE

RE: Heli-Coil : HEAD FCUKED UPDATE
I would highly suggest pulling the head to do the fix. You really dont want to get the shavings in there. Aluminum melts at 1200* F. They can fall down around the rings and mess alot of stuff up.

Buy stock pi heads on ebay for 300 then go to your local shop and port them then they are EXACTLY the same as aftermarket heads but without cool names.and much cheaper. A shop near me said they would charge me 600 for both heads.

Use gobs and gobs and gobs of grease. If you can, rotate the engine & get the piston near TDC so a vacuum can create a ton of suction and get anything and everything out.
So if you use a ton of grease, you will be just fine. IMO, I would use the heaviest grease you can find & just to be extra safe, layer it into the cylinder the best you can, so you can create a big pile of it, that way if any shavings DO get loose from the drill/tap, it'll be sitting ontop of the grease & your vacuum will get it right away. Clean with a little carb cleaner afterwards & be prepared for a little bit of a smokey show right after if you go this route.
Clint, if you are worried about what happened when the plug blew out, it likely came out with such force that it blew any shavings right out along with the plug. If you are worried, run a compression test when you are done. I'd be willing to bet everything is fine.
