Default Electrical vs Mechanical Gauges

Can anyone justify the price difference in these two? Meaning, are the electrical one's that much better than the mechanical? I can't imagine that they are SOOOO much better.

Actually, mechanical are generally thought to be more accurate, but realistically they're both fine. The advantage of electrical is simply that you don't have to run hot oilinto the car.

Electrical gauges are incredibly easier to install since you install one small sender unit wherever, then a wire to the gauges. Installing electrical gauges are a piece of cake, installing mechanical gauges take much more work, and unless you're mounting them outside, are also more dangerous. As long as you get good electical gauges, these days they are basically just as accurate as mechanical. I use autometer's full sweep electric gauges.
