Default transmission...?

I own a 03 gt with the aode. I was pulling on the high way lil more then half throttleand from 1st to 2nd it hit the rev. limiter and then shifted really hard. I check the trans fliud and it was darker colord and the first thing i thought was that it was burnt. Right now i am babying it untill I get it home next weekend from college. I hope i can just do a flush and filter and save it. If not and its just a time game untill it blows any ideas on new trans. I want something that can hold a trans break and a stall or should i just convert it to manual. any help and ideas is appricatedthanks matt.

check your fluid agian...make sure u dont see any kind of metal shavings (might be hard to see if they are really fine)...make sure u look good.....if not...dont think anything broke...get a flush and filter change and go from there...if it is still doing it....get it looked at

Do you know when the last time was the fluid was changed? If it's been in there for quite a while it can get dark just from getting old. +1 on definitly getting it flushed and the filter changed.

I couldnt tell you when it has been changedI just bought the car a few months ago. I checked it last night and it was half quart low, lucklyI was next to wal mart. One thingI noticed is that its not that dark and doesnt smell burnt at all. Another thing is it wont miss second if I shift it manualy, its like the computer is missing the shift.

I think the VSS sensor could possibly be giving you fits.

you dont have the aode. you have the 4R70W. how many miles do you have?? if you've changed the fluid regularly then you shouldn't have any problems like that. the 4R70W can withstand a LOT of abuse.

its all gooddude. btw, while you're at it and if you've got the money, install a tranny cooler. make sure you install itAFTER the factory one and use non-collasible hose. you'll thank yourself in the future. and swap to synthetic! go with AMSOIL. i made the change and it made a serious difference, way better shifts.
