RE: syncros
ok.... i just talked to my dad about this... now hes been working on car twice as long as ive been alive and he said without pausing that mercon III is an automatic tranny fluid.... are you sure this is for the tr-3650?
also, its been varying in temps lately here in south alabama. today it was like a constant 55 or so but when i test drove the car it was a good 70 or 80, maybe higher...

RE: syncros
Dexron III/ Mercon is what Tremec specifies for the 3650. It may be an ATF but its still a light weight oil which provides lubrication. I swapped the fluid two days ago and the difference is definately noticeable.

RE: syncros
atf is whats specified for these transmissions because the blocker rings are either paper or carbon fiber (i think 3650 is CF). generally the fluid spec is determined by the grooves on the blocker ring that contact the cones. so if atf is what its called for make sure thats what you put back in.

RE: syncros
Call D&D performance tell them your problem and they will sell you what you need to fix it,most likey a blocker ring kit if its not grinding yet which is under a 100 bucks,or a synchro assembly which is also pleasently priced.I replaced blocker rings and the3-4 synchro assembly it comes as one.Now all you need is to find a reputible shop to do just the labor, cuz u wont need anything from them besides tear down and install labor. Oh during teardown the reverse idler bolt might get f***** up if so get one of those.
