RE: Why doesnt my GT play my backup CD-R???
Good posts guys! Thanks, i use sonic record now software for burning cd-r's and whats weird is that in my handheld cd player the cd works perfect but in my cavy it will play all the songs but 6, 7. And in the mustang it will not play 6, 7, 8 track numbers???? Really weird! Ill try burning at lower speeds because i do use a laptop to burn the cd-r's!!!

My older tech CD player in my '98 GT plays everything perfectly. The only problems you tend to regularly run into is with colder weather. In very cold (around freezing or below), northern weather before the car heats up totally (cabin temperature), many CD's and/or the laser lense itself will have a tendency to film over with a cold-induced haze and not be recognized by the CD player. This may happen for the entire disc or just certain selections. In warmer weather this problem will go away all together. Also, if you take your CD's from a warmer area (your house) to the car during the colder months, this can multiply the problem due to the extreme differences in temperature exposure to the CD(s). If this problem continues to occur in the warmer months, I would try using a different brand of blanks. Maxell's are just one brand that is notoriuos for not being recognized by some players. I have a professional duel-tray burner that can't even read some of their blank discs to burn right from the get go. If THAT doesn't help, I would check out FORD or an authorized FORD CD repair shop. I would hazard to guess you probably have rather touchy media to start with. Try a more expensive, mainstream brand and see what kind of results you get. As with most things, you get what you pay for.
