Its getting cold in NM and just 3 days ago I am getting this odd noise from my car.
It sounds like its coming from underneath more toward the engine/transmition area.
When the car is cold it's usually louder, its like a grinding squeel. I don't think its trans. WhenI am in Netural and rev it, you can hear the grind.

I checked the oil, trans fluid and now I am lost..... any ideas would be great. I am goin to take it to the shop on monday. But it would be nice going there with some ideas so i don't sound like an a@#.

Are you sure it's not coming from the front of the motor like a belt or idler pulley or something?

 

to be honest i am not sure, i will look into that more. I know when i get on the floor brhind the front driver tire and can hear it, i can hear it very clearly in the car. From the top of the engine i can't hear it, so i think its more lower...

The only thing I can think of that would make a grinding/squeeling noise from the tranny area is the starter. The bendix may not be pulling back in after startup.

 

the car does start just fine... would that still be a starter problem?? whats a bendix?
