how long does it take??
finally bringing the car to the stealership tommorow to get looked at. I just want my timing belt chain looked at cuz i've had 5 mechanics tell me it was that without taking the car apart. Told the dealer i want just that looked at cuz they charge 90 bucks an hour to put it on the lift. So my question is how long does it take for them to get to the timining belt chain and look at it so i have an idea if im getting screwed with the bill or not
thanks

RE: how long does it take??
Of course you’re getting screwed if you’re going to the Stealership. Only take your car there if it is covered under warranty
Why are people telling your Timing Chain (not belt chain) is bad? Timing chains are usually bad or good no in between. Maybe a timing adjuster is bad. I'm assuming your car is ticking
But anyway the stelalership will have to remove all the accessories on the front of the engine and than remove the front engine cover to get at the Timing Chain. Probably not gonna be cheap at the Stealership

ya my car is ticking. I'm expecting it not to be cheap and hoping the warranty company does decide to pay for it, but the warranty company sucks so im not expecting to much out of them.

If they're going to take everything apart for diag they're going to charge you between 6-8 hours, and about the same to fix it and put it all together. You're going to get screwed anywhere you take it.

RE: how long does it take??
it was 15 hours of labor to have timing chain guides and tensioners done....plus parts and all new gaskets for the valve covers and the timing case.... if they take it apart to look at it then you might as well let them fix it since they will already be in there...its going to cost you probably 10 hours of labor or more plus probably 100-200 in gaskets just to have it looked at...they wanted 1600 to change the guides and tensioners in my car, they wanted 2200 for a whole timing kit to be put in....i got a family mechanic to help me with it for 550 plus parts....
