save the frustration...take it to the dealership- thats what i did
You sir must have way too much money.

If the locks cycle when you connect the terminals in the trunk, that means it's in programming mode. The only reason it won't work is if the remote is broken, it's the wrong remote, or if the remote battery is dead. Depending on year model, you have to have different remotes. If you have a 98, then there are two possible remotes since they switched systems mid-way through the year. Get the right remote and it will work. Autozone sells them, but I'm not sure of the price. Ebay has everything.

if he has a different ford it prob won't work... i was just assuming that he had a mustang too and the year could also make a difference

go to ebay and look up the seller 'remotewholesale' (without the quotes) and put in 1998 Mustang into his store search and you will see plenty of remote key fobs for our mustangs and they are 25 bucks shipped and you will be set

Here's the instructions.

1.Turn ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, with the 8th time ending in
RUN. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming mode.

2. Within 20 seconds press any button on first keyless remote. Door locks will cycle
to confirm programming.

3. Within 20 seconds, press any button on second keyless remote. Door locks will
cycle again to confirm programming.

4. Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

If you are only programming 1 remote you can skip step 3.

For New Edge you can use any remote that has an ID of CWTWB1U322 or CWTWB1U331.
I bought my remotes on ebay and programmed them myself.
It only took 2 minutes.
If you ever need to program your remote for any other cars. Check out this site.

if you want to program your key then you would have to bring it to the dealer or Home Depot.
Home Depot is 1/2 the price.

Hold On Thar!!! -- Different remotes?? Okay!!, Thanks Ford!!

Have the remote off Fleabay with the code "CWTWB1U322" bought "working" but who knows!! Module is not visible ANYWHERE in the trunk cavity!! Am I missing the part?? Has the PATS key that seems to work fine, turn off the engine, pull key, something beeps 4 or 5 times.

Is there a way to verify the code using the VIN??
Any Ideas out here??

This procedure will not work for a '98. You have to short out the plug as others have noted. For those, like me, that had no what this plug looked like I have attached pics. Simply put a screwdriver in there and you will hear the door locks cycle. Then follow directions as others have posted. Worked for my 98.
