Just picked up the stang from the shop that installed my 4:10's and he said he had quit using goodyear belts for the same reasons I am going through. He said the dayco and other brands were out performing the goodyear brand. I will probably go get a differnt belt and try it this weekend.

Sorry to hijack but I was driving my car pretty hard a few days ago and heard a weird noise so I pulled over. When I popped the hood I noticed really quick that two of the six ribs on the belt had shredded off. Would this be from debree spitting up from the road or from a flawed part ?
check all of the pullys for damage, pay special attention to ribbed pullys on the side your belt was damaged on. prolly road debris.

Check all your pulleys- I would bet on the belt jumped teeth on a pulley while high in the rev's and shredded itself on the engine block- It happened with my last belt.

I have a goodyear belt- never had any burnt belt smell problems. It will squeek when it is raining/moist out for the first few mins on startup, but I figure it is due to the belt slipping while wet, and it goes away after the belt warms up.
