almost forgot..durability. If you say you own a bike with 30-40k miles on it people say that's a lot. On a car that's nothing. Motorcycles don't wear as well. High compression, high revs = shorter life.

People say it's a lot because people don't ride their bikes as much as they drive their cars. Has nothing whatsoever to do with durability. You can bring bikes to well over 100000 miles easily, just people don't ride them that much. Check out people who go on cross country tours with their bikes and you'll see. Bikes are such uncomplicated machines that a minimum of maintainence can keep them running for practically forever. Hell, my first bike I bought was 22 years old, had been sitting in a garage for 10 years, was covered in rust and only cost me $100. Change the oil and spark plugs, and she was raring to go.

110 ftlbs. is still very good out a 60 cubic inch engine. thats almost 2 ftlbs. per cubic inch. if the 4.6 SOHC motor made the same ratio it would be 506 ft lbs.
Sure the Torgue is below the horsepower figure. But still thats quiet high, and alot out of a 1 liter. Im sure if the used a different cam and increased the stroke they could lower the horspower and raise the torqe. You may have a good point, bikes usually dont get alot of mileage, but I think thats from conditions with weather and such. People usually dont ride sport bikes as there mode of getting around. Your body experiances to much fatigue, on long rides. I dont think it has to do with reliability. But I havent seen a bike with over 30k miles on it. So who knows.
