Default brake electrical problems!

i dont know what happened but the electrical switch from my brakes shorted out i drove my car all day then i stoped at the store when i went back my brakelights wouldnt go on and since it has a park/neutral safty switch i couldnt shift out of park. i had to resort to cutting out the switchstriping the wires and putting a 30A fuse in the 15A fuse spot so i could have enough time to put it in neutral where it stays now and i have no brake lights. does anyone know where it could have shorted out at??
