Any valvetrain gurus know why this would have happened?

It spun freely, cam covers may have been a little tight, if theres no PTV damage I might just put it all back together with the new parts and hope for the best. Where can I find a set of 8 roller rockers?

Well, my dads mechanic friend was over tonight and took a look at it, he says theres a good chance that if I have 6 cracked cam followers, I have 6 bent valves. Im gonna do a leakdown test on it and find out. If I do Im probably going to just buy a loaded head for that side, looks like I can get one for about $150, which is less than what the valves and cam followers are going to cost.

+1 on bent valves. that would cause the rockers to come off like that and 99% of the time that when something like that happens to the cam gear you will get vale to piston contact. bent valves would also be the reason for no compression. when you remove the head clean the pistons up good and look closely at them to make sure they are not cracked and try to take the knicks in the pistons out with a scotch pad so that hot spots dont develop there and cause other problems with the pistons down the road.

imo it could be whats being said too, i do want to say tho, i think valve float started it all
id check spring pressures, yea i know those cams can use stock ones, but from working at a machine shop, my 1st assumption would be that it floated, had some ptv, which caused lash in the valve train, allowing the followers(which is what their called by the way lol) to move around some, few of them fell out, few of them caught up some, cracked and then fell
id be suprised if the cam doesnt have any marks on it that should be addressed, or atleast noticed.
imo... heads come off, valve job, springs, followers, check the cams, and throw it back together
and you installed the cams w. the factory cam gears? ive heard bad things about that. apperantly(so says my local tuner, so take it fwiw) they can have quite a bit of "runnout" on them, meaning, the keyway may be slightly off, which does change your valve timing, bigger cam... might have helped this...
so i blame it on either weak springs(what are you reving to?) or a stretched chain
