Noise after intake swap

Noise after intake swap
My intake manifold cracked so I swapped in a new one. Fire the car up and it sounds excellent for 4 seconds, and then a loud fast pace noise occurs. It sounds like valves or something, really really loud. Not a clunk or knock, its really hard to describes. Kind of like plastic gears grinding.
Anyway it took me about 4 seconds to run and shut it back off and the car continued to idle great during that time period. Now I have no idea where to start looking for this noise because I don't want to start the car again to try to find it.
Should i try pulling the valve covers, or just pull the entire intake back off and check down all the ports? I also changed spark plugs while I had it apart if that would have anything to do with it; correctly gapped motorcraft plats.
Any help or direction would be appreciated.

Anybody?
Well i pulled the intake manifold and spark plugs out, checked down all ports and looked down the spark plug holes, couldnt find anything. put everything back together taking my time to check everything, and still doing it.
its more of a knock than i thought. could it be a fuel issue? how can i check if all the injectors/coils are working?

only thing i can think of is make sure nothing fell into the heads/engine. make sure you torque down the manifold in the correct bolt pattern and right toque spec. but i have no idea. its hard to diagnose from me sitting at my computer and you telling us what it sounds like...

An intake swap wouldn't cause a rod-knock sound. Are you missing any sockets? A tool inventory might be in order. Maybe something was inside one of the runners of the new intake?
That sucks.
That sucks.

Sounds like you dropped a nut/bolt/socket in there. that engine is likely toast.
If you can get your hands on a borescope you may be able to look in each of the cylinders and see what you can see.
