Pretty sure its in the belt system but with all the idlers and pulies etc its hard to zero in on it.
Would it be safe to hit each pully with a small blast of PB blaster, then when one quits down I know which one to replace?
I'll try not to get any on the actual belt itself.
Any other way to trouble shoot it?

a pice of hose next to your ear and move it around the areas you think the squeak originates from. when it gets louder, you get closer to where its coming from. Same idea to amplify sounds like when the doctor listens to your internals. has worked for me in various situations; also depends on how loud your squeak is.

Yeah squeaks ****ing suck. I'll be posting a video up after this weekend to get some help on finding the source of mine. The hose thing is a good idea though - you should try that out. Good luck!

i usually take a windex bottle full of water and will spray just the belt with the engine running. if the noise goes away 99.9% of the time its the belt. if the noise is still there i would listen closely to the idler and tensioner pulleys, they are the most common to fail.

If it's in the belt system, first just try running a wire brush on the ribbed side of the belt while the engine is running.

If that doesn't stop it, take off the belt and run the engine to see if it goes away. If it does, then move each pulley by hand individually to see if you can feel it binding up or hear it make noise.

a flat blade screwdriver against your ear and and the engine, its amazing what you'll hear.

Well if its a belt related squeek, obviously removing the belt will halt the noise Try using a small dab of dielectric grease on the belt first, if the noise persists, then remove the belt and spin each pulley by hand. Also, check the AC compressor clutch and make sure it doesnt have a lot of play...

True, a stethoscope is where its at tho. Gotta be careful where you stick that screwdriver, you might end up with it jammed halfway into your head, or thrown across the engine bay... I've seen it
