pinging
How loud will the pinging be when you advance the timing? I think i'm hearing some real quiet almost gurgerling sounds. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I think you're supposed hear pinging when the timming is advanced too far for the octane.

RE: pinging
stock timing for 99+ gt is 10 degrees only go about 3-5 degrees more you'll need to put high octane fuel in like 91 or 93 iff you advance the timing. i know when i have my timing adjuster from steeda, i went to 17 degrees (7 over stock) i didn't here any pinging but threw some codes, say something like misfire on cylinder 4 and 8 or 3 and 7 something like that. so i took it off

RE: pinging
Yeah pinging could be described as a gurgling sound.. Too low of octane fuel for the timing setting can cause it. And it can also be caused if you have a lot of carbon deposits in your combustion chamber.
