2001 Mustang GT tension pulley
Hello everyone,
Well I bought my first car with a superchargerr on it. I purchased a 2001 Mustang GT with a V2 supercharger. The motor is a stock motor with a few bolt on mods. When I purchased the car I had the guy remove the belt and tubing so I could check the impeller for any play and there wasn't any (well the best I coulld tell). After replacing the belt in the car, it has developed a squeak, like a slipping belt. I thought it might be the idler pulley and replaced that but it didnt get rid of it. I was wondering if it might be the tensioner(?) pulley or worried it could be the supercharger. I tried to get some video of the noise but the camerra will not pick it up.
I have attached a picture of the pulley because it looks like the belt maybe off some but I really have no idea.
Thanks,
Poppajac

It does look like it has moved over on the pulley a little. It is rusted in that spot because at one time that is where the belt used to ride and now it doesn't. it even looks like there is a little rubber dust on the Front over from what looks like the belt rubbing on the cover.
I'd get a new tensioner

Yup its the tentioner i have a 2000 gt and i had the same annoying sqeeking sound that goes along with your rpms... i put some wd40 on the pulley and it went away for a while but came back. Change the tensioner and that annoying sound went away for good, so i say its the tensioner

Thanks for the replies Rush. The person I was going to take the car to cant look at it till the 4th of January so I may try to change it myself.
I was looking for the tensioner assembly and found one for the car but it doesnt look like the one that is one the car now. I hate to take it off to get the part number but if that is what I must do then I guess I will. The crickets under the hood is killing me.

Not sure if it applies to the tensioner pulley, but Ford made some changes partway through the 2001 model year, you may want to check the build date of your car before ordering this part ("late" 2001 are cars built after Feb. 1st '01).
