Default Cooling Issue?

my 96gt sometimes gets hot while i am driving along in traffic or highways with lots of lights. the temp gauge never goes past normal, but if i have my fan on in teh car and the gauge is turned to cold the air is very warm even though it is cool outside too.

is this normal? i had read that 96gt's have some crummy thermostat and fan. idk if i should upgrade the cooling fan and thermostat to help cool the car or if this is normal. hopefully someone shed some light on my situation.

also, i dont have a modified car, i just have a cat back. everything else is stock.

I would start with the normal things, like cooling system flush. Maybe also replace the thermostat since they're pretty cheap and easy to do. Also, take a look at the front of the radiator and make sure it's not all plugged up with bugs and debris. If it is, just comb all of the crap out with a small wire brush. The warm outside air you're drawing in I think is attributable to the car itself being warm; although if it's pumping in 75* air while it's 30* outside then possibly the HVAC control isn't closing the door all the way and some air is being drawn through the heater core.

i think it is b/c the air through the vent gets warm only after a while. so maybe a coolant flush and thermostat change is in need. idk i guess ill have to wait until spring to do that. its too cold now and the car being slightly warmer doesn't bother me...its jus the summer i worry about.
