Unhappy My Stang leaked all over my feet!!!

Kind of got a huge problem here... My Mustang leaked all over my feet when I finally realized that the AC was not working... The Mechanic said that i had a hole in my "Heaters Core," and it was going to cost me about 600 bucks to get it fixed... Well I'm currently on deployment so i would to get some input before i go home because I'm going to want to fix it myself...

Well if your A/C isnt working, and the heat still does. Then you have a damaged evaporator core. Which just so happens to be in the same spot as the heater core. The problem is you have to remove the dash to gain access to it. Its not a very quick or easy job to the average do-it-yourselfer.

if you damaged your evaporator core it would leak as a gas. it has to be the heater core.

There is PAG oil throughout the whole A/C system. I've seen evap cores drip lime green oil all over the place before.

I have done the heater core on a Mark VIII before and it's a bitch. Mustang is almost the exact same procedure.

Here is what it looked like:

Its not too bad, its just time consuming the first time. And its defenately your heater core. The evaporator would leak refrigerant which would still wet your carpet a little, but smells way different than coolant. If you smell a sweet odor then its heater core for sure.

Default Not a Do it yourselfer ?

Thanks to everyone... you've all been an extreme help. Going back into more detail its sounds like its the Heaetr Core and it has a hole in it, how that happened is beyond me. Molly's a 2001 GT with a little over 110k on her. I guess its time to start fix'n her up.
What leaked all over my feet was more of a brownish color liquid, it was extremely hot and it had more a sweet smell to it... if i was going to give it a smell!...
I've been looking at summitracing.com and americanmuscle.com and they both have great deals on Heater cores and other great parts that I want and need... do you guys have any other great sites to look at?
Thanks Again!

summit and AM are the only sites you should need to ever look at.

As far as the liquid, then yes thats coolant (brown = DIRTY) Fix that heater core and flush the cooling system.
