Easy answer, Meziere--made in USA by a family owned company that's benn in business for almost 30 years (I have no asociation other than having spoken with them several times over the years at the PRI show).

The best is very often NOT ther cheapest...

I gotta admit, you confused the hell out of me here. If I'm getting you correctly, you are saying that if I have UDP's the e-waterpump is really only gonna free up a couple horses, correct?
Yup... That's about it, it will also make your generator work harder to provide the electricity to run the electric pump.

However, there is still a good sized net gain, as the electric pumps typically draw 11A to 15A, which is 150W to 200W (0.2HP to 0.27HP). Because of the 75% overall efficiency of the generator this will like be 0.25HP to 0.33HP at the generator pulley.

If I had the resources I'd buy one, but with my budget I can't justify the $$/HP ratio...

I've been running a Meizere electric water pump for almost 3 years and 60,000 miles. The only problem I've had is when a $8.99 relay went out. I had no ideal what was wrong but if it can't get power it can't pump. I've been running over two years on this relay but I keep an extra relay in my glove box anyway. Some people have wired their pumps without additional relays. Might not be a bad idea.

NAPA has very nice relay, their p/n AR272, rated for 30A across the NO contacts. It also has a 680 Ohm resistor across the coil to protect it from transients when de-energised.

It's $12 but a very high quality unit--I have used them a lot over the years...
