I put mine in the passenger side of the crossover and let the dash guage do nothing. There is a plug on the side of the block below the manifolds that could be used, but it looked like it would have been to close to my bbk shorties and interfere, so I decided to put it in the crossover.

My car never runs over 190... I have the high temp fan to come on at 185 and it seems to do the job. I have had it out on days of 90+ with the same result. It seems to be right between the 'O' and the 'R'. Somebody really needs come up with a sticker to put over so it reads the temp and we all don't have to read the gauge in LETTERS, thats just not normal

yeah, one thing you might try is not using 50/50 antifreeze. Water is a better thermal conductor then antifreeze. See that u don't have to worry about freezing too much u could thin it out to maybe 80/20, mostly water. I know right now i'm running about 90/10 because i had a radiator hose pop off on a hot day after i changed my high temp fan turn on point to 215. Yeah that wasn't fun it was like 100+ and i was 100 miles from home and 60 miles from where i needed to be with almost no coolant in the car.
