Factory theft alarm goes off after 30 seconds!! Any ideas???
Hello,
I have a 98 GT and have owned it for about a week. I do not know the history on it. When I arm the factory alarm, about 30 seconds later the alarm goes off (horn honking & lights flashing). What could be the causes for this. The alarm even goes off by manually locking the doors as well. Also, is there a way to see if it still has the same factory engine that was originally in the car? If so, how do I check that? I read somewhere that swapping the engine out could cause the problem.
Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have the one that ford sold but is still considered aftermarket by them. Says ford right on it and it works off the factory remotes. This was sold as a option at the time of purchase. But it was not made by ford or installed by ford. If you have this then it was made by code alarm which audiovox now owns. If you are having problems I would suggest just have it pulled out and a better system put in. This is what I am eventually going to do.

Any ideas on how to disarm or disconnect the alarm?

On mine I can just disconnect the harness to it and the car still starts I just don't have the alarm anymore. You can try just disconnecting it and see what happens. I know on mine it does not have the starter kill function.

Can you tell me where to find that and what it looks like. Thanks!

Assuming it is the ford one inside the car look up around the steering shaft for a black box that says ford on it. Also look for a little white box this is your shock sensor. If you find that you can trace wires back to module.
