I always used a first gear burnout (ported terminator)... but, what kind of tires did you have? If you're heating them up the right way - the gear won't make a huge difference.. just based on your actual motor/gearing combo for which will be beneficial... for example, I had 4.30's in my mach 1.. .I could NEVER do a first gear burnout.
Sounds like you just need a bit more practice, or power to lower the 60".
