Gauge Cluster

Gauge Cluster
If I were to unplug the wires connected to my gauge cluster, would my milage reset to zero when I plugged a new cluster in? I have the opportunity to purchase a Mach 1 cluster, but if it is going to reset my milage to 000000.0, then it's not worth it to me. Any responses are helpful. Thank you.

No, the mileage is stored in non-volatile RAM.
However, if all you do is swap clusters your car will not start. The PATS uses a security ID that is loaded into the instrument cluster and PCM at the factory--change either component and the car will not start.
What you will need to do is open up your "old" cluster, and the new one, and swap the flexible printed circuit board from your old cluster to the new one. This is not a difficult task and there are a bunch of "write-ups" about doing it out there--the mileage, stored in NV RAM on your flex-board will be moved to the new cluster.
