Default Steering/Suspension noise diagnosis

I get squeaking/groaning noise out of my front passenger... area. Not entirely sure where it's coming from. It's fine when the car is rolling straight, but it's very loud when turning the wheels, and it squeaks a little when the car goes over bumps. I have my suspicions that it is the ball joint, but the wheel doesn't seem to play at all. Other thoughts?

Default Bring Up My Post

Anyone have any ideas? I'm only newly a gearhead. Any help diagnosing this problem would be appreciated - even if it's just things to check...

sounds like balljoints, have you picked the front end up and looked at the play? its pretty easy put a floor jack under the front and pick the front wheels up a few inches and pick the wheel up see if there is any play in the upper or lower. if that isnt it then check the wheel for bearing play. if that not it check your front brace across the bottom and see if the welds are split. ive seen a few stangs with the welds slightly cracked and the car makes a squeak/pop on tight turns and bumps when the weight shifts.

@Fordadvisor I have picked the whole front end up and pushed on it, but there doesn't seem to be any play against the vertical axis. I'll check my front brace later today. Thanks for the tips.

@MidNightRunner Thanks for the reference, I'll keep that in mind.

So i just regressed my steeda ball joints and that stopped some of the noise out the front, but sounds like your not having that problem. Wouldn't hurt to check.
