Default Im about to buy an 01 cobra. Questions!

Alright. It has 105,000 miles on it. It has an intake and a whole bunch of stuff. Comes with a diablo tune and tuner. Makes about 300 RWHP. So I have been looking for an 03-04 cobra for some time now, but those are in the uper teens even 20s. I dont want to spend that much on a seven year old car. Yeah they only have 32,000 miles but are still aged. I have driven 2 04 cobras and loved them. Drove the 01 and was disspointed with the slowness of it since it has alot of stuff done to it. I really want it as a track car. Anyway, its a friend of mine selling it and he wants 8k for it. Like I said I drove it and it is VERY nice for the price and mileage that is on it. Looks almost as good as some 03/04s. Anyway I would just love some opinions on whether I should just sell my SVO and mclaren and get an 03/04 or just buy this 01 to race it at the track. Ultimately I want to keep my 02 GT in the end.

sell the SVO and Mclaren and get the terminator (03/04) do it right the first time. Nothing wrong with an 01 it just if you have been looking for an 03/04 and settle for a 01 you will always wish you would have waited for the car you wanted. It sounds like you have a nice collection of cars so it is not like you will be out anything if you wait to sell what you dont need so you can buy what you really want. just my .02

I have owned and 01 and an 04. I really liked the 01, but I really LOVE the 04. If you are already having doubts about the 01, then I agree with BraMas there, don't settle, else you're setting yourself up for disappointment. If the price of the 03/04 puts it out of range, that's one thing. But if you have the option of getting one, and you're considering it already, then yeah I think you should go for it. Don't let the age worry you for the price. I just bought mine in December 2010, and it was/is in excellent condition.

I drove my 01 Cobra for 3 years and was quite happy with it. But I do not regret my decision to get the 04, even though it did cost more. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. You've driven them both, you know what I'm talking about!! But for me they are cruising cars, not track cars. As a track car, the 03/04 already has some strengths built in, with the built iron block and of course the blower. So you're paying more, but of course you're getting more. It's certainly a better base for a track car.

Honestly, I imagine everyone is going to say, go for the 03/04, since you have stated that is an option. The only reason I would give to get the 01 is price, if you have budget limits. Otherwise, why NOT get the Terminator??

Agree with both of the above.

Dude, living in orlando, you should be looking all along the gulf coast and all the way to Jacksonville for 03/04 cobras. i've seen some w/ under 60k miles go for right under 14k. Try using this website, and click the word "Mash" in the green box a little below the top of the page: http://www.jaxed.com

Once you get to the Mash page, click the red link towards the top that says "Try our beta search." When you get there, type in cobra and under the "location" drop down menu, select "Southeast." You should be able to find some better deals around the mid-teens. Trust me, it would be worth the drive. Hell, I almost drove six hours to pick up a stang from Houston, but found one an hour away just north of Baton Rouge a day or two before I was gonna make the trip. If you find the right one at the right price, a few hours out the way ain't nothin to sweat.
