Default weighing my options for heads, need opinions

I'm planning on doing a head/cam swap some time in the near future and I'm trying to decide what's the best/most cost effective way to get better heads. I can either buy a set of after market heads and just slap those on, or I could have my heads sent out to a machine shop to have them ported and polished. I was wondering some pros and cons of each and also if there would be a big power difference between the bought heads and the machined heads.

Thanks in advance,
Endrance

OP, talk to Nick at Modular Head Shop. He'll be able to answer all your questions.

either or, look into TF's, or send your PI heads out for a p/p job, comp valve job, upgraded valves, etc. Either can make monster power. I personally sent a set of PI heads to MMR for their stage 3 p/p job and am very happy with the results
