Default What MAF to use

Talked to my local tuner a few days ago about getting my car tuned there once (or if) the S/C ever gets installed. He mentioned that he refuses to tune a Lighting MAF in a blow-through configuration, and said to check out a P-MAF unit.

I am leaning towards either a 85mm unit:

or the 3" pro tube:

Anybody have any experience with either of these? I am kind of leaning towards the 3" tube, as it looks cleaner (even though you will not see it)

I have a P1SC kit intercooled, and as I live in CA. and I have to pass Smog, I am essentially gonna leave the rest of the engine stock. (I also want to keep the HP levels under 400hp, so I do not push the motor to the brink)

I have only a single comment, no recommendation as to which of the two (see below).

* - 3" is 76.2 mm, smaller than the stock MAF, while this is not a huge factor in a blow-through application you may wish to consider it;

Back to recommendations, I have none because it really doesn't matter as long as you have; a) a MAF that can meter the maximum amount of air your engine can ingest without pegging, and b) as long as you have a 30-point MAF transfer function for the selected MAF.

If both a and b are true than the MAF will work and any competent tuner will be able to create a tune that will work with it. What ever you do DO NOT get a "calibrated" MAF as it will make your tuner crazy--make it clear to whomever you buy the MAF from that you are going to have a custom tune built to it's transfer curve.
