Has anybody bought a tuner? Is it worth the money?

Oh and for that, it will clear the code but if the problem that caused the code isn't fixed, sooner or later the code will pop back up. But if you are getting a code for a catted x, most likely that can be turned off permanently in the custom email tune, as long as its not due to an actual exhaust leak.

Awesome. Yeah I just had it looked at yesterday (because I thought it sounded like there was a leak) but he told me that x-pipes sound that way normally.

They checked and couldn't find a leak either.

imo tuners are the best way to get the most out of your car. If I didn't have a tune on my car everytime I stop the car stalls out because of the cams. Plus if you buy for Americanmuscle, you get free tunes for life from bama so you can get a new tune specificly made for the mods that you have. gotta love a.m.

Shredder, i see that your setup is similar to mine minus the nitrous. I'm just curious what kind of numbers you throw down with those VT stage 1's?

I am not really sure because I have not had a chance to take it to a track, but the HP is 347, 0-60 mph is around 4.8 to 4.9 give or take, and mpg is 25 surprisingly, however due to a bad case of ledfoot syndrom I am unable to achieve this

It's funny that the OP has this similar problem. I have a CEL thrown every so often for Cat inefficiency its either P0420 or P0430. It usually goes off unless I scrap my pipes against a driveway or a bump.

OP originally my problem with the codes developing was from bad O2 sensors. Somehow both got damaged when I had my X-Pipe installed. I had a few different codes going. But now its just caused by bumps or low driveways.

Tuner is worth every penny! Buy new that way you don't have to worry about the headache of knowing whether the guy/gal on the other end unmarried the tuner correctly. The butt-dyno doesn't lie, they make a huge difference! Also, if you purchase the Bama tune from AM they will give you 3 tunes included with the tuner. That is in addition to your stock tune. I loaded my 93 Performance tune and I have not gone back to stock. Last thing, I think you will stand to gain more than 20 HP at the rear wheels with your mods, and definitely will gain fuel economy.

If you do get a tuner I would def get a dyno tune as well. Some guys argue that you don't need a dyno tune but alot of the guys on here will say you should get one.I bought an xcal3 with a custom tune, after loading the tune we dyno'ed it.Then he "tweaked" it and got 8 more hp out of it.So I prob saw 20rwhp combined between the handheld and dyno tune.
