HOW OFTEN OF OIL CHANGE YOU RUN?
The 3k mile interval is a myth even with conventional you can go 5k miles, a good synthetic can see 6-10k. But for some reason I still change out my Pennzoil Ultra sometimes with less than 3k miles. My car only sees about 3-4k miles a year and is parked for winter. I change all my fluids in spring right before it comes out of winter solace, then I change my oil half way through summer again.
The oils available today are FAR BETTER than those we used just 10-15 years ago. All of the oils on the market are pretty good now.
I have been running synthetic oil in my cars for years. Since brand new, I have run my wife's 2002 Miata about 10,000 miles on an oil change, BUT I always change the filter and top it back off with oil at 5,000 miles. I am confident the oil is fine up to 10,000 miles but I like to know the filter isn't gathering debris for 10,000 miles.
Since I run my car a little harder from time to time (at the track only), I change my oil and filter between 5,500 - 6,000 miles (as close to 5,500 as I can).

Really just 2x's a year with Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w30 and a royal purple filter b/c my advance auto doesn't have anymore Mobil 1 specials. I drive it like 5k miles a year if at best now. So I just watch to make sure I'm not losing oil.
