killing the stock ECU!
so... got bored... and while installing the megasquirt...
i decided to rip out EVERYTHING related to the stock ECU... working the engine bay right now, got like 60-70% of the harness out. megasquirt will be controlling the fuel/spark, plan on running a hidden "cut-off" switch for power, and 2 switches for crank&run/accessory.
now i'm thinking of other things that the stock ECU controls... and ways i can work around having to use it, at least temporarily. for example, the stock fuel pump. is there any way to bypass the ECU on a returnless setup? i'm assuming no, which means i'll have to rig up a temporary return setup using a small can&fuel pump until i can complete my full return swap (oh what fun that will be).
btw that reminds me, i have a stock GT fuel pump (returnless) if i give it a full 12v, will it spit out enough pressure/fuel to run idle if i have a return system fuel pressure regulator? dont really care about the pump dieing on me, its my old stock pump.
i'm thinking of things like lights, heating&AC, door locks, windows, trunk, EVAP, etc...
if you have pictures of some sweet control panels for stuff, post em up. i'm looking to rip out the dash i think soon as well.
nother thing, i'm gunna be dropping the tank soon, anyone got part numbers on stuff that should be inspected and/or replaced while its out? its a rather new tank (just a tad more than a year old) and i'm having it cleaned and sumped.
