Spring Build questions
ok so to cut this short, I got a block from the junkyard, have it torn down right now and i have some questions before I go on my huge shopping spree.
I have thought about it and this is the route that I am going, I am keeping the stock crank, with this being said can I bore the motor .030 over and to help compression just a hair I will get a set of different connecting rods and pistons? Is this possible? Next, I have read on some other fourms by just poking around that the Romeo and Windsor motors have different bearing caps and such. How can I verify which plant this motor was manufactuered and is this even a real issue, or just a myth? Lastly, I am going with a set of Comp Cams Xtreme Energy I belive is the name, with a duration of 272/288. Will this be a nice cam to just sport around with and have a little fun or do I need to go larger duration. With the new cams, should I also purchase new valves, springs, etc..... I NEED INPUT GUYS. Please any kind of advice would help on my decision. Thanks in advance.

Do a Pi head swap while its torn down, thatll bump up your compression some and let the engine breathe better. I do believe the mainbearings are different, but im not speaking from experience here. What did you get the motor out of in the junkyard? You should be able to google the block number and find out what it is.
