Default Snap!!!!!!!!

Tonight was gonna be the last time I run my car till the weather warms back up after winter. Well,I was sitting on the line waiting on the light to drop when all of a sudden I dump the clutch and snap[:@]. That was the only sound out of my rear end. I think I might have just got a axle(which sucks but made me proud) I am gonna go a take it apart and check it out tomarrow and see. So here is my ? does anyone know the average price for a axle and exactly what kind of axle is in my car. Plus what kind of axle should i replace it with to strengthen the rear end. Thanks

I think he's right.

Why would you put it away already? It's way to early, wait till like Nov. Your car loves cool air.

Yeah I had an accident with my axle once. But it wasn't because how cool my car is lol. I hit a curb while drifting. The whole operation was $700 the axle I believe was $210

You can get a set of 31 spline axles for about $250, the diff for about $350 and have it all installed. I bet it was the spider gears that went out. Ive never heard of 28 splines going out without a power adder of some sort. I used to do 5000 rpm launches on 275/60/15 BFG's and never broke traction and I never even bent an axle.

Well its only a few weeks till bow season opens for hunting so thats my hobby for the winter.
Well i took it all out and its definatly a axle, driver side.My ring and pinon and spider gears all look fine. The teeth are still all there. But it broke off right at the end of the spline on the end of my axle and flared out so we couldnt get it down far enough to get the c clip off to take the Broke piece out. So im going tomarrow to try and get it pressed out. Hopefully my diff is still good im not sure because of where it broke at though. The sad thing is i cant find anyone that can get me a axle. Im not sure but i heard the only one that would fit it is a 99-04. The only help i got was to call the ford dealer and i am tring to stay away from them if anyway possible. ( I dont have a extra arm and leg to give right now)Is there any place to go on the internet to buy a axle for my car and it is a 28 spline correct. Thanks for you help.

I believe you have 31 spline. You also might be better off with just buying a new pair of hardened axles. I've had good luck with Superior. A lot of guys use Mosier or Strange. Summit sells a set of Superior hardened axles for your car. Their part number is SAG-EV84. $249.99. They come with bearings.
