Some people might not want their car to be loud, that's really not a problem, plus he already has an x pipe, so its still gonna have a nice tone to it. Honestly what he wants makes perfect sense, something that won't make a lot of noise when driving normal but you can hear when you get on it.

Right now the car has an X-pipe with HFC's and its straight piped. It had the Bassani cat-back on it but the previous owner cut out the mufflers. I may try and contact them for replacement mufflers.

The car failed emissions though and has to be fixed That's why I'm going through the hassle. I guess I say quiet because its awfully loud right now and doesn't sound the best to me.

Im here in CO too and a lack of mufflers shouldnt cause an emissions failure. Do you think it is because of the HFC's? Also, I know this might sound dumb, but when I worked at PepBoys years ago, when people failed emissions our standard was to get their oil changed or recommend that. In about 12 months there, I don't recall anybody coming back after that was done saying it did not work.

I've never heard of the oil change idea before... I wish I could still try that. I ended up having to put real cats on to pass emissions.

The car is a lot more quiet with the new cats on so I think I may try and find some aftermarket muffler for it and call it good.

Now I just need to find a 2.5" in/out straight muffler that is about 7"-8" in length. I'll be looking online but if anyone knows one of the top of their head let me know. Thanks!
