get a fiberglass hard top and ditch all the convertable ****. like the motor and all the brackets and the tarp and you should be about the same weight maybe a little more than a coupe
Hey David, have you heard about the Yellow Mustang Registry?

If you remove the power steering will it work well enough for road racing and I gues just plug the rack in and out fittings right?

WOW, I am glad to see so much enthusiasm about shedding weight. Every race car I have built has always been from the platform of weight reduction. Remember "Weight to Power" ratio? All suggestions are valid. Some a little scary, but valid. I have also gone as far as removing all unnecessary wiring. Do you know how much wire weighs. But, Soaring and David_K are right, a BIG item to remove, since it is a convertible, is the motor and all the hardware that goes along with raising and lowering. Yes, you will have to secure the convertible top in the raised position, but for weight savings this is another item to assault. Remember, light is fast.
