Default rear diff cover keeps leaking oil

04 gt 8.8 rear end, long story short had a guy install 4.10 gears for me, after a few days noticed it started to whine and noticed a leak from the diff cover. Jacked the car up and changed the diff cover gasket, noticed there was some metal shavings on the magnet that you take off to fill the diff up. Just wiped off the shavings and bolted it back in. Well started leaking again, changed the gasket again, also put some lock tight on the diff cover bolts, noticed metal shavings again on the magnet. I did inspect the gears didn't notice any wearing though. Put everything back together and sure enough still leaking. I'm out of ideas why its still leaking from the cover. Any help please

Get yourself one of these:
Lube Locker
A bit of metal on the magnet is normal. Small dust like, not big hunks of metal.
Change the fluid out after 1000 miles or so, then install the Lube Locker gasket.
I've had mine off twice and still no leaks (no sealant needed either).

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Also is there anything I can add to quite the rear end down?

I had ordered this from Amazon when I was trying to quiet a truetrac:
Red Line 58204 Heavy ShockProof Gear Oil Red Line 58204 Heavy ShockProof Gear Oil
I've since used a different differential, so I have three quarts in my garage I'm not using.
If you'd like, PM me and I'll sell them to you for $8.00 each plus shipping.

Just get some Gasket Maker to seal up the diff cover dont bother with gaskets

as for quietening down the rear end you most likely need a new gear set, and a qualified person to install them. unless you have literally zero run time on your gears then you could re adjust the pinion depth and lash

^this, just use some grey silicone. It works better than the gaskets.

I used gasket maker called "The Right Stuff"
Also used Indian gasket shalack sealer with factory gasket.

Both never leaked.
