Need help with 4.6L 2V timing chain guides
Hi, replacing the timing chains, guides & tensioners on my wife's 98 GT.
The replacement guides are of a newer design then the originals. The originals slid on over an alignment pin at the bottom, then had two bolts near the top. The replacement guides have a bolt at the top and another at the bottom. On the left side the bottom bolt replaces one of the oil pump bolts. It requires a much longer bolt which I have ordered. The guide easily clears the original alignment pin, so I don't think it will be an issue. On the right side however, the bottom bolt has to go in where the alignment pin is. Does the pin pull out or unscrew? If it pulls out, is the hole threaded for a bolt?
I'd appreciate any help you can give me. I'm an old school 5.0L guy, these modulars are new to me.
