I hate when people post up numbers that someone else ran...

 

everyone thinks the mustang will completely crush the gtp.... like i said before my 97 gtp (w/over 100,000 miles on it) ran a 14.6 with a horrible 60' because of the major wheel spin. and the funny part of the whole thing is stock for stock it would be a close race, mustang should win (unless a bad driver) but all the gtp needs to win is a different pullie, or more psi (and are both WAY cheaper then what it would take the mustang to get faster).

well, i didn't say it would be a blowout, i just asked the question. The pic in my sig is my old v6 mustang, which i traded towards the gt i have now. Same body style and all, but this new one is a gt. I have cai on the way as well, and searching for exhaust.. but, we'll see what happens, i'll keep you guys updated. thanks for the input!!!

 

a stock automatic probably... but an auto with a tranny cooler, shift kit and say a higher stall speed... manual will be eaten alive... and you can downshift if you know how to drive the stang

 

The 05' GT ran a 12.9 stock with slicks!! Look in the timeslips section...They will run mid to high 13's with street tires easy with a decent driver..

 

Now you lost me. What year is your new GT??? If it is the same body style as your 6er, then it is a new edge with 40 less horsepower and one less gear than about half of us were under the impression you have. You will still have the edge, but it may be a very close race.

 

if you go from a roll be sure its 28mph or under so that way your car will downshift to first, and not start from the bottom of second

im amazed at the amount of misinformation in this thread.. i could have swore i just read a new edge will take an S197... wtf ... the GT has the advantage stock for stock whether its auto or manual or what. with mods.. who knows... unless you know the power hes making, tires hes running, the only way to find out is race.

 

Who said that? I didn't see it. Theres a big miscommunication issue going on in this thread, because half of us were under the impression he had an S197 GT and everyone else thought he had a new edge GT.

And if the OP has abandoned, I guess we might not ever know.

 

You will win! I can smoke GTP's in my DD (I have an 06 GXP) And I fall just behind the new GT stang in a race I think you have the race from a dig or a role.
