sounds like you got some water in your gas.

Fuel filter first then Try a tank of 91 octane from a gas station other than the one you normally frequent. I just recently had a situation where I had filled up with a tank of 87 shell at the station down the street from me (my usual one). For the next week my car proceeded to ping under moderate loads and really ping under heavy loads. Idled like crap, gas mileage out the window (17 mpg).
I went to a Circle K at the other end of town(which is owned by shell in most cases now) and filled up with 91 octane. Car runs like a top nowhints evenof pinging and I'm at 230 miles so far with a quarter tank still left. I'll easily hit the 300 mile mark before the near empty light kicks on (20+ mpg). And no, I don't have a tune on my car. just stock 87 octane.

Might be a possibility [:-]Now that I think about it, it's probably a conspiracy that they have crappy gas so you naturally take it there to the most convenient shop (theirs) and they proceed to rape you.
Now I hate that place even more..(off topic for sec) My wife tookher Escape there for an oil change, they asked if we wanted to powerflush the tranny fluid and the powersteering fluid. That was six months ago and she had 30K miles on the truck so I said sure. I double checked the fluids after we got the car back and they did indeed flush everything out. She went there again last week andshe said they brought out from the shop a q-tip with what looked like brake-fluid on it and tried to tell her it was her automatic tranny fluid was worn out (brown) because it was burnt. She asked them to check their records and they "had no record of it having been done there six months earlier" I told her to stand her ground and get her car out of there now (over the cell when she called me)
She had to resort to telling them if they tried to imply one more time that she needed it done or that the q-tip they showed her was the tranny fluid she would call the local new channel and give them a story for the Monday night news, Fraud. They backed off after that. We are never going there again. I checked the fluids when she got home. Both tranny and PS fluid were a nice red/pink. I did the trick with the Brake fluid and she confirmed that's what they probably did. Fuggin bastards!
BTW the name of the place is Danny's Car Wash and Auto Service in the Phoenix, AZ area.
