Default Sequential FI

What was the first year the Mustang went sequential fuel injection? Will the 4.6 computer work in my 87 with the right harness? I'm a little old to wear my hat sideways, but I really want to laptop my ride and break some parts.......LOL
I have been posting this in the other forums with no results. I am aware of the Accel and Fast systems but I'm curious about the factory set up. The aftermarket stuff is cool but a little pricey for me and I am not opposed to junk yarding. The shop I'm associated with has the program to play with the factory parameters and a dyno.
My car will be a long term project with many mod's coming in the future and I'm trying to build the foundation now. The speed density set up is not as flexible as I would like. The engine will be last in the project (No paint will be last....LOL)
I'm sure I will run it off the track at some point.
If anybody has done this swap I am very interested in both the up's and down's.

I'm asking about true sequential fi, not batch or bank fired systems. Thanks.......
