I realize this is a much-discussed topic: 3.73 vs 4.10 gears
My 2002 GT is very lightly modified: K&N cold air intake, Steeda short throw shifter and Borla catback. I'm contemplating upgrading my gears and I've heard a lot about which of these two are better, etc.
I am somewhat concerned about gas mileage (least of my concerns) but I am looking to post better track times and in general make the car even more fun. Some people are saying 3.73 are the most well-rounded for a daily driver while others are saying 4.10 are the all-around best.
I have the stock size 235 width tires, will I need to worry about grip if I go with the 4.10s? (I may get some fatter tires in the future) Also, if some people with 3.73s and 4.10s could post their gas mileage average, so that I get an idea?
Thanks ahead of time, all input is useful.

The first 3 times I filled up after I installed my 4.10's I calulated out that I only lost around 15-20 miles a tank with normal driving not getting on it from stop light to stop light. Don't fear the Gear get ya some 4.10's and if you do only alittle highway driving get 4.30's. I drive about 75 miles a day on the highway and I love the 4.10's.

For some reason I can never get the Search to give any results... even though all the settings look right for search criteria.
I'm not that worried about gas mileage at all, and right now I'm thinking 4.10s, I'm mainly worried about not being able to hook up unless I get fatter tires. Anyone have any problems when upgrading gears?

I've been driving my 5-speed with 4.10's for a year and they make the car much more fun. As far as grip, I'm not spinning tires unless I'm trying. I also find I'm out of first gear quickly and get most satisfaction out of second and third. I also have a heavy convertible with 285 wide back tires so my car may not be a good indicator.
If you're gonna spend the money, make sure you find a reputable installer to get the job done right the first time. Bad gear install can be a major PITA. I paid $500 complete (FRPP parts and labor.)
