EDIT: oh, and does the hi-tech stage 2's have PTV issues like the 274's? would it mater that i have the 96-98 pistons vs the 99-04 pistons since they are dished more?
i have the hitech stage 2s in my 99-04 and there are no ptv issues...if you go to hitechs website and search for their stage 2 cams it states no ptv issues, i also didnt degree mine either, another which hitech SAYS these cams dont require, but all of that is up to you when you install them...but good luck bro! i have a good feeling you will love these cams!

You'll be fine as the PTV contact is on the edge of the piston not in the dish. Hitech is a great cam if you are planning on keeping the heads stock.

Id trust what JayC and 01GT4.6 say. I mean i wouldnt go with off the shelf cams like Comps. If i would go off the shelf, it would be CMS because i personally have talked with Jim and he is a very helpful guy and his grinds are supperb. More to say but off to work.

dude those same rods last fine in mach 1s and cobra spinng 7k rpm from the factory?

sometimes you say some pretty far off stuff..

and anything you can do with sniper you can do with sct, and actually quite a bit more aswell..

Those powdered rod's wouldn't hold up to 6250RPM for very long. Your talking about close to another 1000RPM.

either way, have you even gone with any of these cams? or are you just talking out of your *** about what others have said and acting like you know everything at the same time??

20lbft down low is a big drop for the 274's, and coming from someone saying "oh no, they don't lose ANY low end torque", your showing you have zero idea what your talking about.

Custom cams are pretty much the best bed for ANY combo. Not just FI, but NA as well. I wouldn't touch an off the shelf cam to be truthful.

Oh, and actually guys, stalling has more to do with idle RPM, and the IAC than with the tune. My car comes damn close to stalling when I slow down. I don't remember if you can alter the decay rate of the IAC with a predator or SCT tuner, I know you can with sniper.

so the gears are gonna change the fact that your missing 20 or 30rwhp in the lower rpms...

a stall would help with the loss in low rpm power, not gears.

go rev your stock headed 2v to 6500 consistently, ill make sure to bring you a bucket to carry around in your car so you can pick up your rods when they go on vacation through the block
again rods are not the limitation on our cars... 4v shortblocks use the exact same rods, hell 3v use ****tier rods made out of the same material... machs had a 6800rpm redline, and the 3vs have a 6500 redline...

Dont see any of those throwing rods out of the side of the block when used in NA applications do you?

I never said it would give you back power nor torque. I said it offsets the difference. Having 4.10's in a Auto is the difference between night and day for drivability. If you've ever used an automatic New Edge GT for a DD you know exactly what I'm talking about, the power down low, especially in first gear is abysmal. After I had my gears installed I was actually getting slightly better gas mileage in town because I wasn't having to give it a lot of throttle at stop lights or stop signs just to keep up with the flow of traffic.

Loss in power at low RPMs....Even without a stall I'm revving to 2000 RPM at the track at launch(whats the stock stall, 1600?) So when your looking at these 20-30 RWHP losses, look at 1600-2000 RPM, where the loss won't be so devastating.

I have been in cammed motor car with everything from 2.73 gears to 4.10 gears..

gears dont matter, you still are 30rwhp down..

cams with no low end suck in these cars... SUCK MORE THAN ANYTHING in these cars..

I deal with mine because it revs cleanly to over 7krpm..

if you are not doing that, you dont need to loose any low end... your talking about a car that makes 120rwhp at 2500 rpm..

so if you loose 30 or 40rwhp you are trying to drag around a 3500lb car with 80 or 90rwhp..

DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH THAT SUCKS?
